Cobb Health Futures Foundation Hosts 3rd Annual Breakfast In Support Of Children’s Health

The Cobb Health Futures Foundation (CHFF) Board hosted more than 100 Cobb County officials and local business leaders at The Home Depot headquarters on Thursday, September 14, 2017, for the 3rd annual breakfast event. The focus of the breakfast was to promote awareness of the Foundation and its mission, which is to provide financial, fundraising, and advocacy support for critical Cobb Public Health programs.

Keynote speaker David Satcher, MD, PhD and former U.S. Surgeon General, spoke about children’s health. “It can be affected by conditions such as where they are born and further shaped by the distribution of money, power and resources within their community,” Dr. Satcher said. “In order to eliminate disparities in health, we need leaders who care enough, know enough, will do enough and are persistent enough.”

A highlight of the event was when members of the Grelecki family—Ryan, Crysie and their son Parker—shared their experience with the Babies Can’t Wait program and the positive impact it had on the family. Nine-year-old Parker closed out this portion of the program by taking questions from the audience.

The event, hosted and catered by The Home Depot, was also sponsored by MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service (Platinum), Smith, Tumlin, McCurley & Patrick, P.C., (Gold) The Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine (Gold), Dr. Elton D. Holden & Dr. Kisha B. Holden (Silver), Dr. Noel Holtz & Dr. Carol Holtz (Silver) and Upside Philanthropy (Silver).

Table Sponsors included: Atlanta Perinatal Associates, P.C., Bank of North Georgia, Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Lisa Crossman (Executive Director, Cobb Health Futures Foundation), East Cobb Orthodontics, Friends of Harvest, Todd & Pam Gibson, Herrin Pediatric Dentistry, Kennesaw State University Executive MBA Program, McCleskey-East Cobb YMCA, MS International, Rhonda Page (Vice Chair, Cobb Health Futures Foundation), PointeNorth Insurance Group and Henry Schein Dental.

The Cobb Health Futures Foundation is a 501(c)3 development arm of Cobb & Douglas Public Health that allows individuals, corporations and foundations to contribute tax-deductible gifts to support critical and under-funded public health programming in Cobb County.
