WellStar Foundation Pledges Funding over Three Years for Healthy Babies

Cobb & Douglas Public Health received a $50,000 per year donation pledge over three years starting in FY16 from WellStar Foundation to support critical Perinatal Case Management (PCM) and Babies Born Healthy (BBH) services.

The PCM Program helps connect expecting mothers in Cobb and Douglas counties to resources and needed services to begin their prenatal care. Some of the services include:

  • Temporary Pregnancy Medicaid or Presumptive Eligibility Medicaid
  • Connecting residents to doctors who accept Medicaid and physician referrals
  • Scheduling WIC appointments, prenatal classes and providing community resources
  • Distributing much-needed baby items such as car seats and assisting with prescriptions for prenatal vitamins

Babies Born Healthy protects the health and safety of under- or uninsured moms and babies in Cobb and Douglas counties through reduced-cost services with partnerships through participating OB/GYN clinics and others. BBH provides underserved pregnant women with early prenatal care to reduce infant mortality and ensure both mother and child experience a healthy pregnancy and birth.
